The largest cyclospora food poisoning outbreak in U.S. history is over, U.S. health officials said Friday. U.S. Food and Drug Administration officials said they are confident that all recalled iceberg lettuce related to this specific outbreak is off the market.

More than 11,000 cases of the illness had been linked to lettuce from Taylor Farms that was processed in Mexico. An investigation into how the parasite spread is continuing.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention declared the Cyclospora outbreak related to Taylor Farms lettuce over Friday, though the Food and Drug Administration says its investigation remains ongoing.

Health officials say the cyclospora outbreak is now over after more than 11,000 people in 20 states were sickened by the parasite.
